Warning: make sure the work area is well ventilated and free from open fire/flame/sparks etc etc.!!!

Remove all boot carpet/trim then this is what you will see.
Remove the bolts holding down the wiring covers.

Remove fuel pump wiring cover and disconnect the plugs.

Unclip the connector from the boot, so the cover of fuel pump assembly can be moved to the side.

Loosen the bolts holding down fuel hoses from bracket assembly, and carefully unplug the hoses.
(Make sure you have some kind of pan to catch the fuel leaking out from the hoses.)

Remove the bolts holding down fuel pump bracket assembly.
(CAUTION: Do NOT over tighten these bolts when you put the bracket assembly back in as these bolts are prone to break/strip.)

Lift up the bracket assembly slowly until it doesn't go up any more due to fuel level gauge stick is in the way.
Slowly unclip the floater stick from the plastic holder and the bracket assembly can be fully lifted out of the tank.

Partially unclipped.

Make sure you do not drop the fuel level gauge stick into the bottom of fuel tank.

Take the whole fuel pump bracket assembly onto clean working area that is dust free.
Move the positive terminal boot up and undo the two bolts that connect fuel pump wirings.

Close up of fuel pump top as it has + and - markings.
(Not all fuel pumps has these markings.)

Slide the fuel pump rubber base out of bracket.

Fuel hose might be hardened due to many years of use, it is recommended to replace it with a new fuel hose cut to about the same size.

In this case we had to cut the fuel hose off to make things easier.

Take the fuel pump out of the rubber base.
Replace the fuel filter when you changed fuel pump, check inside the fuel tank for any dirts or junks remove them if you found any.

Reverse the above procedure to put the fuel pump/bracket assembly back on.
PS: Included two comments from Carlito

- I have been able to remove my in-tank pump several times without removing
the float arm, just angle the pump and the float arm until they slide out.

- Watch out for the rubber O-ring that seals cover onto the tank.
If you leave it exposed for too long it'll swell and not fit back into the
groove properly. Mine did and as a result my cover is now siliconed
onto the tank. Next time I'll have a replacement O-ring ready.
